Ho, Ho, Ho…here’s a fun one from the archive. For those of us who live on the prairie, we know that when a winter storm is blowing outside, where better to spend Christmas Eve than safe inside beside the fire? In this ambient piece, we crafted “quiet” sound design to generate feelings of warmth and reverie. The ambient subtly morphs throughout the piece, occasionally interrupted by Santa going about his business (he loves his job!).

Spectacular year at The Rosie Awards…Congratulations to all who have been nominated, including 3 projects we are proud to have been a part of; “Mini Yule Log”, “Clean Seed: Earth On The Edge” and “Rodeo Nation”.
Special congratulations to the entire “Rodeo Nation” crew as it took home the Rosie for “Best Unscripted Series”. Great team win! This unique/heartwarming look inside the indigenous rodeo circuit showed how much effort, strength, humanity, and humility it takes to compete in professional rodeo. It is definitely not for the faint of heart!

Big news…
We have been very busy during the lockdown putting the final touches on our new facility. Over the last 2 years, we have been building a terrific new creative space for audio post, with the intent to move the company there in 3 years. The pandemic has provided some much-needed downtime to help make the transition seamlessly, and so we have taken the opportunity to accelerate the timeline, complete the build of the new facility, and move right away.
The new space is roughly the same square footage as our last studio, only organized to be more comfortable for both us and clients. I would describe it as a “next generation” audio post studio. It’s a terrific creative space that provides increased focus on the craft of post audio for film and tv, while allowing more flexibility within a rapidly changing industry. As good or better equipment/capabilities/expertise presented within a more relaxed environment. The space is highly professional, terrific for mixing, and I think fits perfectly within the “new normal” post-pandemic. It allows us to maintain the top-quality work we are known for, even if in lockdown. It also affords flexibility should the economy require another 3 to 6 month breather in the future (let’s hope not!).
The Forge is back up to temperature, and we have already crafted quality audio post at the new facility on several projects including the documentary “Gilles Villeneuve – A Toute Vitesse” airing on CBC, short film “Song of the Dead” part of a horror anthology that will tour the film festivals, short film “Sharkasaurus” to air on “SuperChannel” and appear at “Blood in the Snow Film Festival”, a new trailer for feature film “True Fiction” currently in Germany on its world tour, a web trailer for this years “Huron Carol” encouraging donations to Foodbanks across Canada (please donate if you can…especially this year), a TV/Web/Radio campaign for “Dream Life Lottery” supporting Hospital Foundations in Edmonton, and a TV campaign for “United Way” that we are very proud to be a part of.
